September 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<section  class='av_textblock_section av-lesa9pm7-f08896943074623328dd29da43f9120c'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The actions of the LIFE Bears with Future project have aroused great interest among visitors to the Castilla y Le\u00f3n Ecotourism Fair, Naturcyl, which this year has held its fifth edition between September 23rd and 25th at its usual venue, the town Ruesga, in the Palencia Mountains.<\/p>\n<p>This is an area of \u200b\u200bspecial interest for LIFE Bears with Future, as it is home to a large part of the bear population of the eastern Cantabrian Mountains and is a growing focus of attraction for hikers and other users of leisure activities in the mountains. For this reason, information has been offered on the recommendations for touring these mountains, emphasizing that they are also applicable in winter, due to the impact of climate change on the progressive reduction of bear hibernation.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6546\" style=\"width: 603px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6546\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-6547 \" src=\"https:\/\/m.fundacionosopardo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/de-guillermo-6.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/m.fundacionosopardo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/de-guillermo-6.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/m.fundacionosopardo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/de-guillermo-6-300x287.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/m.fundacionosopardo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/de-guillermo-6-768x734.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/m.fundacionosopardo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/de-guillermo-6-705x674.jpeg 705w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6546\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bego\u00f1a Almeida, member of the Eastern Cantabrian Bear Patrol, offers information to visitors to the Naturcyl Fair at the stand of the Fundaci\u00f3n Oso Pardo<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The stand of the Oso Pardo Foundation has also offered information on the forestry work and plantations that are carried out in the LIFE project in climate change scenarios:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plantation of fruit trees to increase trophic availability for bears<\/li>\n<li>Plantation of native chestnut varieties to increase trophic availability for bears<\/li>\n<li>Restoration and treatment of chestnut forests to increase fruit production and climate resilience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A coordinated project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBears with Future\u201d Project, co-financed by the European Union LIFE Project, will be carried out until 2025. It is coordinated by the&nbsp;<strong>Brown Bear Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;in partnership with the&nbsp;<strong>Biodiversity Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;(<strong>Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge)<\/strong>, and the<strong>&nbsp;Natural heritage Foundation of the Castilla y Le\u00f3n<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>regional government<\/strong>.
